I believe darkness isn't, as some think, something to be avoided, especially if it takes you somewhere you need to go. Without darkness there is no light, after all. And not everything has to be happy to be great.
I wonder where some of my dark ideas come from. My writing's described as "serously creepy" and I'm such an ordinary person, not in the least creepy, not by any stretch of the imagination. I suppose it must be hidden away somewhere... Not sure if it's talent or latent weirdness struggling to break out.
I agree with Charles. As usual, he's gone to the heart of the matter. Anything well done involves hard work.
And few are willing to take the time and effort to do that just that, Charles. And then they aren't satisfied with their lives and they wonder why.
Excellent point, Scott, I'd have to agree. I love exploring both the light and dark. It can bring a balance to everything to see both ends.
Thank you, Travis. I hope things are improving for you.
Leigh, I think everyone has a creepy side to one extent or another. Many never find an outlet for it, some find violent outlets, and others choose to let it out via some creative expression. Nothing wrong with seeing all sides, dark, light, 'normal' or creepy, since what may be one person's 'normal' is another's 'creepy'.

That is a very open to interpretation quote. I'm curious what dark place she figured her talent was leading. :)
I've found out much the same thing as an academic. Ideas really are almost a dime a dozen. What matters is doing the work to see them through.

Great quote.

It does make one wonder, Bernard.

I suppose that's true, as long as it's dark out in the first place, Laughingwolf. ;-)
